What are the fees on donations?

Every donation carries two fees: a clearing fee charged by the payment provider, and a platform fee, which is Jgive's share. Both depend on the charity's membership plan, and the platform fee also depends on the type of donation page. Everything is listed here.

Jgive fees illustration
01

Clearing fee

The cost charged by the payment provider for processing the transaction. It exists in every system that clears credit cards, and varies by plan and by provider. Calculated plus VAT.

02

Platform fee

Jgive's share. Set by the charity's membership plan and by the type of page the donation came through: campaign page, charity page or collect page.

03

What we don't charge

Joining Jgive is free. There is no setup fee, no fee for issuing receipts, and no surprise additions beyond what is listed on this page.

Fees by plan

The same donation on the same page carries a different fee depending on the plan the charity is on. For what each plan includes, see the plans page.

Donations from the UK — UK Toremet (UKT)

  • Donations to charities from UKT charity accounts carry no fees. UKT also receives donations earmarked for specific purposes or specific charities (for example, Jgive campaigns) from donors without UKT charity accounts. In those cases, part of the donation to UKT is retained to cover administrative expenses.
  • For private donations eligible for Gift Aid, from UK taxpayers: 100% of the donor's donation is passed on. The Gift Aid stays with UKT.
  • For grants from charitable foundations, non-UK charity accounts, corporations and other donations from non-UK-taxpayer donors: 5% of the donation is retained. Additional direct fees (for example, credit card fees, third-party platform fees, etc.) are not covered by the standard retained percentage. Jgive shares this information for your convenience. To make sure the information you have is current, or to apply to become a supported charity, visit the UK Toremet website: uktoremet.org.uk/for-charities
